Do you ever watch those shows where a couple buys an old castle or post office or church so they can turn it into their dream home, but they do it knowing they are purchasing a historic property – which means there are going to be limits to what they can alter?
Definitely by design. I saw an interview with Steve Bannon today on The Economist and he was talking about how they are absolutely planning on a 3rd term, there are loopholes in the 22nd Amendment, and it needs to happen so they can “finish what they started.” They flood the zone so we can’t keep up and are exhausted and don’t know which thing to focus on. Smh.
Ha. Much appreciated. My first title was Dream Makeover: White House Edition, but when I thought of this one I knew I had it. These are the Mojo Dojo Casa Houseiest bros of them all.
How do I make words in a comment that replicate the sound of the screaming in my brain?!?!?!
We all thought an authoritarian take-over would look like something else. Apparently, it looks like living in a perpetual Catch-22. I looks like the screaming in my head.
Thank you for doing such a good job of making words for yours.
Thank you, Elizabeth. It’s true, we thought a coup would look like an army on horses with swords drawn — or if not that, January 6th — the attempted coup that went mostly unpunished, until the few who were punished were pardoned. Then the real coup began and continues in broad daylight while we carry on. I don’t fucking know anymore. Just saw a bunch of people blaming Democrats for the shutdown under a post from the AG in NC talking about how he and other AGs were suing the USDA for not releasing the $6 billion in emergency funds for SNAP benefits appropriated by Congress for just such an occasion, so that children would not starve. Sometimes the upside down and inside out mental gymnastics wear me down. Now is one of those times!!!! Thank you for screaming with me, internally or otherwise. Cheers to us both xo
Yes I had seen that. It’s all so disgusting. The thought of knowingly allowing the most vulnerable members of our society to go hungry as a POLITICAL MANEUVER and extortion ploy is beyond the pale. But not beyond these absolute shitmoles. I have to keep making up new expletives because the ones we have are not good enough!!
Yeeeeah, he's going to pay for it himself. And the very next day, he demanded an extortion payment from the Dept of Justice for "pain and suffering" or whatever from the investigations he was under during the Biden administration that just HAPPENED to be ... that same amount. He isn't paying for jack shit.
The corruption in this administration is a feature, not a bug. And he is a life-long lawbreaker so none of it is a surprise. Smh. Thanks for being here, Trina❤️🩹
It’s all such fuckery. Meanwhile I’m trying to figure out wtf to do about health insurance January 1st, because without the ACA subsidies my monthly premium goes from $346 to $1706, and I can’t do that! And I don’t see them coming back to work anytime soon, but at least Argentina has free healthcare I guess. Smh.
I am so sorry, Ally. I am so worried about so many folks that are going to be hurting without affordable healthcare, without food, without basic life necessities. It's fucking insane. And when it feels like it can't get any more crazy, it does. 😨
It really is unfathomable and horrendous. My heart hurts for so many people every single day already, and I think things are going to get so much worse. Except for the people who already have more than they will ever need. Ugh, Michele, it makes me so sad and angry. Smh.
Reaching out to local food banks is definitely good. I’m trying to organize a neighborhood watch that’s really more like a resource for anyone who needs help. Boycotting more companies every day. Also feeling overwhelmed.
Great idea. I have been trying to figure out what to do direct in my neighborhood, too. I am also utilizing my local FB Buy Nothing group for direct food assistance. And, yes, so many companies.
Hugs, Ally. I am so glad there are people like you.
I am just as enraged and when we get mad we write about it. I have to go get dressed because I have an appointment in less than 2 hours for my Covid vaccine. I did want to share that my Mom, who died of Covid in July 2020, had a first cousin that was Director of the National Park Service under LBJ and Nixon. Not sure if he knew they were cousins since his father was adopted by another family after my great grandmother died giving birth to my grandfather who was his father’s brother. Fascinating family history. He was fired by Nixon. This is from Wikipedia but there are many records about his firing.
“Rebozo encouraged Richard Nixon to fire then-National Park Service director George Hartzog in retaliation for receiving "a ticket from a park ranger in Biscayne National Park for tying his boat illegally to an NPS administrative dock there."[13] Nixon fired Hartzog in December 1972.”
Exactly. And who needs $300 million for a ballroom?? No matter how nice you make it, that’s a LOT of cheddar when the HVAC is being donated. CBS reported he’s updating the bunker, and it makes one wonder about the $40 billion to Argentina. Is that like a backup plan if he needs to flee the country, or wtf? It’s hard to keep up with all the madness, John. AHHH I did not mean to delete your comment, I was trying to edit mine!! I’m so sorry John!
Whenever there's some outrage happening in front of the curtain, it pays to look behind it to see what we're being distracted from. What could that be? The East Wing was expanded in 1942 to cover the PEOC, Presidential Operations Control Center, aka The Bunker, where GW hid during 9/11, and 45 during the Floyd protests.
They're upgrading it.
The ballroom is a just a distraction, which, as usual, is working.
Yay! Thank you, John, I appreciated your comment so much and you should have heard me say “Noooooo” out loud when I hit the wrong three dots lol. Thank you for righting this wrong. So few wrongs get righted these days! 🙏🏼❤️
How big is that Führerbunker going to be that it needs that monster of a ballroom to cover it? That's some upgrade. I wonder if the "contributions" are an entry fee?
More lol/sob/genius. FUCK.
I almost made the subtitle %*@&#!
Absolute fuckery.
It’s unsettling. Constantly. My god. They never give it a rest.
Definitely by design. It’s fucking exhausting. Effective warfare.
I literally haven't read this yet but I am about to, however felt the need to say from word one that your title is 100% perfection no notes.
Ha. Much appreciated. My first title was Dream Makeover: White House Edition, but when I thought of this one I knew I had it. These are the Mojo Dojo Casa Houseiest bros of them all.
And you’re spot on as usual. ❤️
I didn’t have “cried over destruction of White House” on my 2025 bingo card but WELP
I’ll take “Things you could never predict”for $230 million, Alex 😩😩😩
That title is gold ❤️
Thanks. Gotta take the laughs where we can get them.

In the meantime, SNAP benefits are close to being unfunded. Nobody should go hungry in a country that builds ballrooms.

Me, too. I am overwhelmed on the daily trying to figure out how to help. How to make a difference. OVERWHELMED.

Seriously….enough with all the kens.
This algorithm has had Kenough, that is for sure.

I’m sure he is rolling in his grave.

Now, why would they want an upgraded bunker?

I'll try to recreate it!
